Spanish Translation

The language:
Spanish is the first spoken language in countries such as Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Belize (although the ‘official’ language is English). It is the second language in United States, and it is also spoken at Philippines. Please refer to our language guide here.

Layout structure:
Spanish is written and read from left to right. All Spanish-speaking countries use the Metrical instead of the Imperial system of measurement, although some specific applications require Imperial measurements, and some countries use both (especially those near to the United States). Temperature is also measured in Celsius rather than in Fahrenheit.

The punctuation system is different from English. For example, 1.890,55 instead of 1,890.55, and 2006 is sometimes written like 2.006. Date order is also different: First the day, then the month and at last the year: 05/12/06.

Purchase guide:

  • As always, please provide a glossary if a specific translation for certain words are preferred.

  • As Spanish is spoken in many countries, it is useful to indicate the target audience because Spanish is very rich in synonyms and so texts need to be localised to gain the maximum effect. With scientific or legal this is not as problematic because of their formal nature, but for all other texts, our translators are skilled in translating into "neutral" Spanish that can be easily understood by most readers.
